London Irish scrum-half Rory Brand becomes the latest player to sign a contract extension with the Gallagher Premiership club.

Having been part of Sale Sharks Junior Academy in 2013, he moved to London Irish Academy in 2015 and helped them win the Under 18 Premiership final in February 2016 when they defeated Gloucester in the final.

His senior debut for the club came in the 2016/17 season and has gone to make 11 appearances for the club with his Premiership debut coming in August last year.

“I’m really pleased to be extending my time at London Irish” said Brand to the club's official website.

“I feel I’m continually evolving as a player, working with a blend of incredibly experienced players and emerging young players.

“It’s an exciting time to be at this Club - we feel we’re heading in the right direction and I’m happy to be playing my part in that.”

The 23-year-old was also part of the England Under 20 side that competed in the 2018 World Rugby Under 20 Championship where they finished runners up following defeat to France in the final.

“Rory has had to bide his time for opportunities at senior level, but he’s constantly improving day in, day out at the training ground which tells you all you need to know about his character and his desire to keep progressing as a player," said London Irish director of rugby Declan Kidney.

London Irish finished the 2020/21 season of the Gallagher Premiership at ninth place.
