Saracens have announced the return of British and Irish Lion Liam Williams, who will rejoin the club until the end of the season.
Williams, who spent the past year playing in Japan for the Kubota Spears, brings his extensive international and club experience back to StoneX Stadium.
The 33-year-old, who has earned 91 caps for Wales since his international debut in 2012, offers exceptional versatility across the back-three positions.
Starting his professional rugby journey with the Scarlets, Williams quickly gained recognition and was named Wales’ Player of the Year three years after debuting for Llanelli.
Williams initially joined Saracens in 2017 and enjoyed a standout 2019-20 season, during which he contributed to the club’s Champions Cup and Premiership double victory.
Williams expressed his excitement about rejoining Saracens, especially during a pivotal moment in his life as he prepares for the birth of his first child.
“The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me,” Williams said. “When one of the Sarries management reached out, it didn’t take long to say yes. My previous time with the club was special, and I can’t wait to contribute again.”
Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall emphasized the significance of Williams’ return, particularly in light of injuries within the squad.
“Liam had an incredible impact during his first spell here. He’s a world-class player who has been at the top of his game for over a decade,” McCall said. “Bringing him back was an easy decision, and we’re thrilled to see him in a Saracens jersey again.”
