Scorecard

Will Jordan scored a double as Crusaders edged out Chiefs 18-13 in their Super Rugby Aotearoa encounter at Christchurch on Sunday.

This is Crusaders' second win from as many games as they are at the second place in the table while Chiefs are at fourth after losing all their three games.

As the wet conditions were prevailing, both the teams made unforced error in the first half before Crusaders got off the mark following a penalty goal from Richie Mo'unga after Nepo Laulala was penalised for an infringement.

The Chiefs responded back with a three-pointer from Damian McKenzie in the 24th minute. Three minutes later he had a chance to take the visitors into the lead but his shot went wide.

Jordan scored the first of his two tries in the 33rd minute as he capitalised on an inside pass from Sevu Reece and Mo'unga improved it to make it 10-3.

The fullback once again dominated the early exchanges in the second half with Reece making a quick throw at a line-out to send Jordan over the line for the second time to make it 15-3. Mo'unga missed the conversion but added a penalty in the 61st minute to make it 18-3.

Chiefs were desperate to get their first win in the tournament and their hopes brightened when Sean Wainui ran on a pass from Brad Weber to score their first try in the 64th minute and McKenzie followed with a conversion and a penalty to bring the gap down to five points which Warren Gatland's men could not overcome.

Crusaders' next game is against Highlanders at Forsyth Barr Stadium on 4th July while Chiefs will face Hurricanes in the fourth round on 5th July.
