England prop Joe Marler will miss the upcoming fixture against Australia to be played at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday after he was tested positive for Covid-19.

Marler's lateral flow sample returned positive following which his PCR test result also confirming positive for Covid-19.

The 31-year-old was withdrawn from the England squad and will undergo 10-day isolation in accordance to the government guidelines.

Marler was part of England's game against Tonga last weekend and went on to replace Ellis Genge in the 67th minute.

The rest of the players and staff members returned negative for lateral flow tests and are currently awaiting result of the PCR test.

Meanwhile, England skipper Owen Farrell missed the game against Tonga after testing positive for Covid-19 but later rejoined the squad as his sample was declared false positive.

Following their clash against Australia on Saturday, England will finish their autumn international campaign with an encounter against South Africa scheduled on 20th November.
