Premiership Rugby has announced Jan Gooze-Zijl as the new Chief Financial Officer ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Jan already has the experience of working as Chief Financial and Operations Officer with International law firm Ashurst and also a similar role with broadcaster UKTV and also has held financial roles with Virgin Media Group, Telefonica O2 Europe and Accenture.

“As we go into growth mode Jan will be fundamental in helping deliver Premiership Rugby’s continued success," said Premiership Rugby Chief Executive Darren Childs.

"He has an impressive track record of achievement and has exceptional finance, strategic and change management skills.

“I worked with Jan for six years at UKTV and saw at first hand his impressive leadership skills and the instrumental role he played in delivering growth and operational excellence.”

Meanwhile, Jan Gooze-Zijl is excited about the new role with Premiership Rugby.

"I’ve always wanted to work in sport so I was delighted when this opportunity arose with Premiership Rugby," he said.

"It’s an exciting time to join the team, at the start of a new era for the game in England.

“Last season was breathtaking with attendances at almost two million and a cumulative television audience of more than 12 million watching Gallagher Premiership Rugby. I look forward to working with a great team to deliver continued growth in the coming years.”

Widely regarded as the most competitive rugby union league in the world...it can only be the Gallagher Premiership.

12 teams compete in the league over a season, playing every team both home and away, before four move into the playoffs and one is relegated.

The division is becoming more and more exciting as each year passes by so who will be lifting silverware at Twickenham in May?

At Talking Rugby Union, we aim to provide match reports and news together with our specially commissioned features and interviews.
