Munster Rugby have announced the signing of Ireland international Tadhg Beirne has signed a two-year contract extension with the Pro14 club.

Beirne started his professional rugby career with Leinster in 2015 and switched to Scarlets in 2016 before joining Munster in 2018.

The 27-year-old started in 18 out of the 20 games for the club and was named the player of the match in the Pro14 games against Leinster, Ospreys and Connacht and home and away fixtures against Exeter Chiefs in the Champions Cup.

Beirne has played five Tests for Ireland since making his debut during the summer series last year and was also part of the starting line-up against Wales in the final round of the Six Nations earlier this year.

Meanwhile, scrum-half Craig Casey has signed a development contract starting 2019/20 season and will be graduated to a full contract for the 2020/21 season.
