Ireland lock Edwin Edogbo signs a new two-year Munster contract, keeping the 23-year-old at the province until at least 2029.
Edogbo commits long-term future to Munster
The 23-year-old has scored seven tries in 31 appearances for Munster since making his senior debut away to Dragons in 2022.
Edogbo came through Cobh Pirates and UCC before becoming the first player from Cobh Pirates to enter the Munster Rugby Academy in 2021. His younger brother Seán subsequently followed him through the provincial pathway.
Edogbo featured eight times during Munster’s 2022/23 United Rugby Championship title-winning campaign.
Ireland breakthrough follows injury comeback
The lock suffered a serious Achilles injury against Leinster in December 2023 and subsequently missed the entire 2024/25 season.
Edogbo’s performances earned him a place in Ireland’s 2026 Six Nations squad, and he made his Test debut from the bench during the 20-13 victory over Italy at the Aviva Stadium in February.
McMillan welcomes major contract boost
Munster head coach Clayton McMillan praised Edogbo’s combination of size, athleticism and work ethic and said the province was delighted to retain him.
“We’re grateful that Edwin has chosen to commit his future to Munster,” McMillan said. “He has worked hard through some challenging setbacks and is an important part of what we are building here.”
