Exeter Chiefs have confirmed that centre Henry Slade has signed a new contract to remain with the club, extending his long association with the Devon side.

The 32-year-old England international has been with Exeter since 2011 and remains a central figure in the squad.

Slade recently passed the 1,000-point mark for the Chiefs during the current PREM season and has now made 259 appearances in all competitions.

Slade said staying at Sandy Park was an easy decision, describing the club as home and praising the strong bond within the squad.

“It was an easy decision to make to re-sign. To be able to run out at Sandy Park and continue to call this place home for a few more years is brilliant.

"I feel very privileged and lucky to have played so many games for Chiefs and in front of such a great group of fans.

“The squad of boys at this club, I’ve had a few across my time here, but the thing that hasn’t changed is that we’ve always been close off the pitch. Every group has been amazing in different ways, and I’ve got a lot of friends for life as a result.

"It makes it enjoyable, and you look forward to coming into training to see the boys."

One of the remaining members of Exeter’s title-winning era, Slade plays a key role in the club’s leadership group. A product of the Chiefs’ academy pathway, he progressed from Plymouth College to the senior side before making his England debut in 2015.

Director of Rugby Rob Baxter said Slade continues to perform at international level and remains vital as Exeter look to compete for trophies.

“This a fantastic re-signing for us. Henry is someone who has been here a long time, seen a lot of success, but still playing fantastically well and probably having one of his best seasons for the club currently.

“Henry is an international quality player, someone who can really hold things together for us as we develop as a team and look to win more trophies. He’s exactly the type of player we want to make sure we keep."
