Gopperth lead Wasps charge as they secure 15-20 win over Saints

Jimmy Gopperth was at the helm of Wasps advance as the Coventry side eased to the top of the 2016-17 English Premiership points table with a 15-20 win over Northampton Saints at Franklin's Gardens on Saturday.

Gopperth bagged a 15-point haul which included a try and a couple of conversions and two penalties.

However, it was wing Josh Bassett's (78) late try which sealed the proceedings for the visitors.

Wing George North (2) and replacement scrum-half Tom Kessell (75) scored tries for the hosts. Fly-half Stephen Myler failed to convert North's try, however, managed to add the extras for Kessell's try in addition to scoring a penalty on the 80th minute.

Saints got their basics wrong throughout the game as they slipped down to 10th falling four positions after the defeat.

Widely regarded as the most competitive rugby union league in the world...it can only be the Gallagher Premiership.
