Glasgow Warriors will miss the services of lock Tim Swinson in the upcoming European Champions Cup quarter-final against Saracens this weekend after he was handed a four-week ban on Thursday.

The Scotland international was handed a red-card by referee Ian Davies during the Pro 12 clash against Connacht when he performed a stiff arm tackle on Dave Heffernan following which Glasgow Warriors challenged the sanction.

However, a Pro 12 disciplinary panel backed the decision of Davies and confirmed the four-week ban on the 30-year-old.

"The foul play merited a mid-range entry point which carries a suspension of six weeks.

"There were no off-field aggravating factors but after considering mitigating factors, the committee reduced the final suspension to four weeks.

"The ban was therefore reduced by two weeks leaving the player free to resume playing on Monday, April 24, 2017. He was reminded of his right to appeal."
