Wasps have confirmed the signing of Georgian international Lasha Jaiani with immediate effect.

Jaiani started his professional rugby debut with Exeter University in 2016 in the BUCS Super Rugby competition.

The 22-year-old made his debut for Georgia in February last year and has featured in six Tests including the recently concluded Autumn Nations Cup. He also represented Georgia Under 20 side in the 2017 and 2018 Junior World Championships.

“I’m extremely happy to be joining a club with such great history," he told the official website of the club.

"It’s an honour to get the opportunity and I’m really excited to get started. Playing for Wasps will enable me to make a step up in my professional career.”

Wasps head coach Lee Blackett expressed delight with Jaiani's addition to the squad.

“We are delighted to be able to bring Lasha onboard.

“He will really complement the great group of locks that we already have at the club and we look forward to furthering his development over his time with us.”

Wasps are positioned fifth in the Gallagher Premiership table with three wins from five games and will face Bath Rugby in the sixth round on Friday.
