Worcester Warriors have confirmed that rugby director Gary Gold has penned a new deal with the Aviva Premiership side.

The 49-year-old joined Worcester Warriors in January on an interim basis but has led the side to victories against Saracens, Bath and Bristol during his short stint thereby helping the club gain 17 points from seven matches.

As a result Warriors have widened their standings from the bottom placed Bristol, who will now face relegation to the second tier RFU Championship.

Giold said: " I have thoroughly enjoyed my first three months at Sixways, and I am delighted to be able to commit to the club on a permanent basis.

"My focus at present is to ensure we finish the season on a high so that we are able to lay the foundations to bring future success to the club."

Gold has also coached Natal Sharks, Bath, Newcastle Falcons and London Irish previously apart from being a part of the 2011 World Cup South Africa coaching panel.

Worcester chairman Bill Bolsover lavished praise on Gold for the impact he had on the club ever since he joined them.

"We have been pleased with the progress we have made since Gary took over as director of rugby on an interim basis, and the players have really bought in to his rugby philosophy.

"Gary has been able to lead the side to some great results over some very tough opponents, and we believe he will be able to build on his good work to help the club continue to move forward during the 2017-18 campaign."
