Fiji 27-10 Maori All Blacks, Suva

Fiji came up with a four-try performance as they went on to beat Maori All Blacks 27-10 in the opening game of the two-match series in Suva on Saturday.

This is also the Pacific Island side's first win over Maori All Blacks since 1957 with the two sides set to meet once again on 20th July.

After the first quarter went without a point, Alifereti Veitokani touched down to get Fiji off the mark and Ben Volavola followed with the conversion.

Fiji ensured they finished the first half strong with their second try coming through number eight Viliame Mata as the teams went into the break with a 12-0 scoreline. The Maori All Blacks also suffered a setback just before the break with Otere Black sin-binned.

Fiji made full use of the numerical advantage with Waisea Nayacalevu Vuidravuwalu touching down in the 47th minute and Volavola added a conversion and a penalty on either side to take the lead to 22-0.

Sean Wainui with his double in the 54th and 69th minute provided Maori All Blacks with a glimmer of hope but a second from Nayacalevu Vuidravuwalu with six minutes left in the game ensured Fiji completed a historic 27-10 win.
