England have named three uncapped players in their matchday squad to face Fiji in Liverpool, with teenage Saracens wing Noah Caluori included among the replacements.
Noah Caluori Named In England Squad
Caluori is set for a potential England debut after an impressive breakout season with Saracens. The 19-year-old scored 20 tries across PREM and Champions Cup action, including five on his first league start against Sale Sharks.
Steve Borthwick has named Caluori on the bench for Saturday’s Nations Championship fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium, where England will look to end a five-match losing run.
Henry Slade Returns For Fiji Clash
Henry Slade returns to England’s starting XV at outside centre after missing the Six Nations. His inclusion means Tommy Freeman moves back to the wing, while Cadan Murley misses out after suffering a shoulder injury against South Africa.
Guy Pepper is the other new face in the starting side, replacing Tom Curry at openside flanker. Borthwick has made changes after England’s heavy defeat to the Springboks at Ellis Park last weekend.
England Bench Includes Uncapped Bristol Pair
Bristol duo George Kloska and Benhard Janse van Rensburg are also in line for first caps after being selected among the replacements. Janse van Rensburg becomes available for England through residency this week.
Sale prop Asher Opoku-Fordjour replaces injured Beno Obano as the replacement loosehead. Luke Cowan-Dickie, Henry Pollock and Alex Mitchell are also retained on the bench.
Borthwick said England had prepared well but warned that Fiji would pose a dangerous challenge. The match kicks off at 2.10pm in Liverpool.
"We've had a really positive week of preparation, and the players have worked hard in training," said Borthwick.
"We know Fiji will provide a tough challenge. They are a dangerous side who will demand the very best from us.
"It's fantastic to be playing at Hill Dickinson Stadium, which is an outstanding venue. There is a real passion for rugby across the north of England, and we're looking forward to experiencing a brilliant atmosphere in Liverpool."
