European Professional Club Rugby has handed a fine of an undisclosed amount to Saracens after the Premiership club failed to send any of their representatives for the launch event of the Champions Cup in Cardiff.

The launch event came a day after the Allianz Park outfit were docked 35 points in the Gallagher Premiership apart from a fine of £5.36m for a breach in Salary Cap.

Saracens have already confirmed that they will not contest the sanction from Premiership Rugby but now their problems have compounded with EPCR also fining the defending champions.

"Having previously indicated they would be represented at the event, Saracens' failure to attend constituted a breach of the 2019-20 Champions Cup media rules," read a statement from EPCR.

"EPCR appreciates the subsequent efforts made by Saracens to grant rights-holding broadcasters special interview access to members of their squad in the week before the start of the tournament."

Saracens suffered a 30-10 defeat in the opening round of the Champions Cup last weekend and will lock horns with Ospreys next at Allianz Park on 23rd November.
