England coach Eddie Jones has included uncapped Northampton Saints scrum-half Alex Mitchell in the Six Nations squad ahead of the third round clash against Wales on Saturday.

The decision follows after Harry Randall is withdrawn from the squad following an ankle injury that is likely to keep him out of the remainder of tournament.

Mitchell, who had represented England Under 20 in the past has been with Northampton Saints since 2017 and has played 39 Premiership games for them scoring seven tries. He also had represented England XV in the Quilter Cup clash against Barbarians in June 2019.

“Harry Randall has withdrawn from the England squad for the Guinness Six Nations with an ankle injury.

“Alex Mitchell has been called-up to Eddie Jones’ 28-player squad. England are preparing for their next match, against Wales, at their training base – The Lensbury in Teddington."

England are positioned third in the Six Nations table with a win and a defeat in the opening two games and will lock horns with Wales, France and Ireland in the final three rounds.
