Fly-half George Ford is set for a return to the starting XV in the second Test against Australia as England aims to complete a historic series win in Melbourne on Saturday.

Ford, who was brought in as a replacement for Luther Burrell in the 29th minute, played a pivotal role in setting up two tries for England in their 28-39 win during the Brisbane Test.

England coach Eddie Jones is keen to stick to his performance rewarding 10-12 combination of Ford and Owen Farrell as his men have set sights on historic win at AAMI Park.

Ford, whose chemistry with Farrell also played a crucial role in England's Six Nation Grand Slam conquest, was all praises for the Saracens fly-half.

"It's great to have someone else who has the same mindset out there at 12.

"We think about the game quite similarly, and he helps in terms of communication in attack while his energy in defence is unbelievable."

Ford believes the Australia will be desperate to put up a good show on Saturday after losing steam in Brisbane after the first 20 minutes.

The Wallabies who are known for their physical prowess on the field, will certainly up the tempo at Melbourne, however, the Bath fly-half is confident that England will be well prepared for the challenge.

"Australia will be desperate because they will be disappointed with the first result.

"They played some good stuff in the first 20 minutes of that first Test and will aim to do that for the full 80.

"They'll bring physicality as always and will want to get one back on us, but we're desperate as well."

Despite the 11-point triumph at the Suncorp Stadium, Ford claims his side has moved on from the celebrations and is now completely focused on Saturday's challenge.

"We're very happy with the win. It was great to get the series off to a win, but the attention quickly turned to this week," Ford said.

"We have another huge challenge and we know we must improve our performance if we want to get a good result. The lads are pretty focused.

"We've made sure we're professional in everything we do in terms of recovery and the review side of things.

"We spend a lot of time and effort looking at what we could have done better. We have to make sure we don't let the standards in training slip."

Jones is set to announce the squad for the second Test on Thursday at 10:00 BST.
