Wallabies lock Miles Amatosero banned for three matches

Wallabies lock Miles Amatosero has been suspended for three matches following his red card during Australia’s 35-32 victory over Japan in Osaka.

The forward admitted dangerous play after making shoulder contact with head of an opposition player during a clean-out.

Miles Amatosero Handed Three-Match Ban

Amatosero was initially shown a yellow card during the first half before the decision was upgraded to red following a review.

Australia were forced to play the remainder of the match with 14 players but held on for a narrow three-point victory.

Wallabies Lock to Miss Japan Test

The disciplinary ruling means Amatosero’s suspension currently covers three fixtures.

He will miss Saturday’s second Test against Japan in Townsville, followed by a Shute Shield club fixture for Gordon. The third match of the sanction is Australia’s Test against Argentina on August 29.

However, Amatosero has been permitted to apply for World Rugby’s Coaching Intervention Programme. Successful completion could replace the final match of his suspension, potentially making him available for the Argentina Test.

Amatosero Suffers Early Test Career Setback

The suspension comes early in Amatosero’s international career.

He made his Wallabies debut against Italy in July in Joe Schmidt’s final match as Australia head coach before retaining his place for Les Kiss’ first Test in charge against Japan.

The ban now leaves Kiss without the towering lock as Australia prepares for the second match of its two-Test series against Japan.
