Scotland will miss the services of wing Duhan van der Merwe for the fourth round Six Nations game against Italy following his three-week suspension.

The 26-year-old was sent-off while playing for Worcester Warriors in the recently concluded Gallagher Premiership game against Worcester Warriors for a dangerous tackle on London Irish's Kyle Rowe.

Van der Merwe was handed a three-week ban but can be available to play from 25th March subject to completing the World Rugby Coaching Intervention programme.

Earlier, Scotland coach Gregor Townsend added Jonny Gray, Adam Hastings, Ross Thompson and Glen Young to the squad ahead of the weekend's encounter.

Scotland are positioned fourth in the Six Nations table with a solitary win from three games and will face Italy and Ireland in the final two rounds.
