Former New Zealand Under 20 international Sefo Kautai has extended his stay at Brumbies after signing a new deal until the end of 2024.

Kautai joined Brumbies as an injury cover in 2021 and went on to make his debut against Western Force. The 25-year-old has made five appearances for the club in the ongoing season and has previously played Super Rugby with the Chiefs, while also representing Waikato in the New Zealand provincial competition and will return to Waikato for the 2022 NPC season.

“I’m really happy to be staying with the Brumbies," he said.

“It’s a pretty special group of boys here and I’ve loved being part of it.”

“My time here has been really special so far and it’s a privilege to represent the club.”

Brumbies head coach Dan McKellar believes Kautai committing his future to the club will add more depth to the squad.

“It’s great for the Brumbies to have Sefo re-sign with the club for another couple years.”

“We knew we were fortunate to find a tighthead with Super Rugby experience when we needed someone on short notice last year but Sef’s exceeded all expectations and has fitted seamlessly into the club.

“Depth at tighthead is critical and we’ve seen that this season, where Sefo has slotted in and brought value so having him stay at the Brumbies is fantastic.”

Brumbies currently are at third position in the Super Rugby Pacific table with 10 wins from 13 games.
