Scorecard

Folau Fainga'a scored a double as Brumbies edged out Queensland Reds 22-20 in the fifth round of the Super Rugby AU at GIO Stadium on Saturday.

This is Brumbies' fourth win from as many games as they consolidate their top place with 18 points while Reds are at second place with 11 points.

Fainga'a started the proceedings for the host with a try at the back of a line out and Bayley Kuenzle followed with the conversion. Jordan Petaia coming from an injury was drafted from the bench in the 23rd minute.

Brumbies doubled the lead in the 33rd minute as Fainga'a scored his second at the back of the maul and Kuenzle improved it before James O'Connor with a penalty at the stroke of half-time got Reds off the mark.

Reds got off to a terrific second half start with Harry Wilson and Angus Scott-Young scoring tries while O'Connor kicked two conversions and a penalty to make the scoreline 14-20.

Just when Reds thought they had the game, replacement Connal McInerney's try in the 75th minute took Brumbies to a one-point deficit. Replacement Mackenzie Hansen missed the conversion to give Brumbies a scare but kicked the decisive penalty in the added minutes to complete a two-point win.
