Bath Rugby has confirmed that club captain Ben Spencer has committed his future to the team, signing a new three-year contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.
The experienced scrum-half, who joined from Saracens in 2020, has been a key leader for Bath and played a vital role in guiding the team to their first Gallagher Premiership Final in nine years last season.
Reflecting on his decision to extend his contract, Spencer emphasized how settled he and his family feel at Bath and expressed confidence in the team’s growth and potential.
"We have loved our time at Bath so far, as a family we have really settled here. We have a special group of players and staff and I believe we’re only just scratching the surface of what we can achieve.
"This team has grown hugely over the last couple of seasons and I am excited for what is to come."
Head of Rugby Johann van Graan hailed Spencer’s leadership and match-winning ability, highlighting the impact he has on the squad both on and off the field.
"Ben is not only a world-class player but the leader and captain of our team and a true family man.
"He has that special game-winning ability that inspires others and brings out the best in the people around him.
"Time and again, Ben has demonstrated he can perform on the biggest stage and is such a huge part of what we are all working towards on our journey at the club."
Since his arrival, Spencer has been an integral part of Bath Rugby, making over 100 appearances and leading by example on the field.
Bath hold the top position in the Gallagher Premiership table with nine wins from 11 matches.
