Bath Rugby has confirmed the signing of Argentinian international Santi Carreras from Gloucester Rugby on a three-year contract.
The versatile back will join the club in the summer ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Carreras, 26, is a highly skilled player capable of operating at full-back, fly-half, and wing, making him a valuable addition to Bath’s squad. Since making his Test debut in 2019, he has gained extensive international experience, representing Argentina in two Rugby World Cups.
Carreras first featured for Argentina at the 2019 Rugby World Cup and played a crucial role in their historic victory over New Zealand in 2020, where he started at full-back. Over the years, he has earned 53 caps for Los Pumas, including key performances in the 2023 World Cup.
At the club level, he joined Gloucester Rugby in 2020 from the Jaguares and quickly established himself as a key player. Over his time with the Cherry and Whites, he scored 256 Premiership points, including 21 tries.
His contributions earned him the Coaches’ Player of the Season award for 2022/23, and he played a pivotal role in the club's journey to the 2024 EPCR Challenge Cup final.
Carreras expressed enthusiasm about his next chapter with Bath Rugby.
"I moved to the UK in 2020 in the middle of a pandemic, and I'm hugely grateful to be continuing my journey here. I’m excited about contributing to Bath over the course of the next few seasons.
"I want to push myself to keep improving as a player and to help the club win trophies and titles."
Bath's Head of Rugby Johann van Graan is equally excited about the arrival of the Argentinian star.
"Santi is a starting Test player, and one of the main reasons for signing him is his versatility along with his game-winning abilities. I am really looking forward to working with Santi and helping him realize his dream of becoming the best player he can be."
