Bath lock Dave Attwood has been handed a three-game ban following the recently concluded Gallagher Premiership game against Northampton Saints.

Attwood was cited by the citing commissioner based on a video evidence of striking Northampton centre Fraser Dingwall while he was on the ground.

Even though he was not sanctioned during the game, the citing commissioner felt his act was contrary to World Rugby Law 9.12 that deals with striking or punching.

He faced a disciplinary hearing chaired by HHJ Martin Picton sitting with Alastair Campbell and Mitch Read and was handed a three-week ban which meant he will now miss Bath's league games with Newcastle and Leicester along with the clash against the Barbarians on 20th November.

"Speaking to Northampton Saints' Fraser Dingwall after the match to apologise for his actions, Attwood said he is a better person than the way he acted and was very sorry for losing his cool," read a statement from Bath Rugby.

"Attwood spent the night apologising to his teammates, coaches and family and is sorry to have breached his commitment to maintaining good discipline."
