Scorecard

Tom de Glanville and Ruaridh McConnochie scored tries as Bath Rugby went on to complete a 18-3 win over Northampton Saints in the 16th round of the Gallagher Premiership at Franklin's Gardens on Wednesday.

The win has taken Bath to the fourth place in the table with 44 points with Bristol Bears and Sale Sharks at second and third respectively while Northampton are at sixth place.

Northampton started the game with a setback as they lost JJ Tonks to yellow-card in the 16th minute for his tackle on Zach Mercer. Despite the numerical advantage, all Bath managed in the next 10 minutes was a penalty goal from Josh Matavesi.

As Northampton returned to full strength Dan Biggar helped them level the scores with a three-pointer in the 32nd minute as the teams finished the opening half with a scoreline of 3-3.

Saints looked to press on the aggression but could not breach the defence of Bath before the error from hosts allowed Stuart Hooper's men score the opening try of the game in the 58th minute through de Glanville. However, shortly after the try, de Glanville left the field with a neck injury.

Matavesi missed the conversion but Rhys Priestland added the extras when replacement McConnochie dotted down in the 67th minute making the scoreline 3-15. Priestland with his maiden penalty kick with five minutes left in the game ensured Bath completed a 15-point win.
