Australia have suffered a setback ahead of the Test series against Wales with centre Jordan Petaia sidelined by a shoulder injury.
Petaia sustained the injury while playing for Queensland Reds when he attempted a tackle on Timoci Tavatavanawai.
He is now set to undergo a surgery that has already ruled him out of the remainder of the Super Rugby season and is facing an uphill task to be fit in time for the home series against Warren Gatland's men.
"Obviously disappointed but he's gone and spoken with the specialists, talking through the next layer and getting that done," said Kiss.
"Once he's got a pathway he can move forward and go from there.
"It's a blow without a doubt, a player of his calibre, the types of game he brings for us, his physical size, his power".
The first Test between Australia and Wales has been scheduled to be played at Allianz Stadium on 6th July following which the two teams will once again meet on 13th July for the second and final Test to be played at AAMI Park. The Wallabies will also take on Georgia on 20th July before competing in the Rugby Championship.
