Newcastle Red Bulls have continued their recruitment drive for next season by signing back-row forward Allan Ferrie from Coventry on a two-year deal.
Allan Ferrie Newcastle Red Bulls Signing Confirmed
Ferrie will arrive in the summer after a strong first season with Coventry in Champ Rugby. The 26-year-old Scot, who is English-qualified, has scored seven tries in 15 appearances this season and has developed a reputation as an effective ball carrier and hard-working forward.
Ferrie previously represented Scotland Under-18s and began his senior journey with Newton Stewart before moving to Melrose and later playing Super 6 rugby for Southern Knights.
Coventry Form Earns Premiership Opportunity
Ferrie’s recent progress has been built on strong performances in both England and Australia. Before joining Coventry, he impressed for Sydney-based Southern Districts in the Shute Shield, where he finished runner-up in the competition’s Player of the Year voting.
Ferrie can cover both the back row and second row, giving Newcastle added depth and flexibility in the pack.
He said he intends to finish the season strongly with Coventry before making the move north and taking on what he described as a major opportunity at Newcastle.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to come up to Newcastle and can’t wait to get started in the summer," he told the club's official website.
“I’ve had a great experience with Coventry this year and I’m determined to finish the season strongly with them before throwing everything into what I know is a massive opportunity.”
