Christian Wade will remain with Newcastle Red Bulls for next season after signing a one-year contract extension.

Christian Wade Extends Newcastle Red Bulls Stay

The former Wasps, Racing 92 and Gloucester winger joined Newcastle in December after leaving rugby league side Wigan Warriors. Since arriving, Wade has scored two tries in five appearances and added experience to a squad going through a period of change.

The 34-year-old remains one of the best-known finishers in English club rugby and is still chasing the Gallagher PREM’s all-time try-scoring record. His new deal means he will continue that pursuit in Newcastle colours next season.

Wade Brings Experience And Leadership

His career has included successful spells in Prem Rugby, French club rugby, rugby league and American football.

Wade said he is enjoying life at the club and is looking forward to continuing the project next season.

“I’m really excited to continue this journey with Newcastle Red Bulls,” he told the club's official website.

“From the moment I arrived here I’ve loved the energy around the club and the support from our fans.

“My wife has been part of this journey with me long before the NFL, and we both really enjoy the lifestyle here in Newcastle. It’s a great place for us, on and off the field.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead, and bringing my experience, leadership and personality to help make this team the best it can be.”

Newcastle Plan For Another Season With Wade

Newcastle’s Sporting general manager Neil McIlroy also underlined the value of his professionalism, experience and attitude within the group.

“Christian has been a really positive influence on the squad since his arrival in December, and the way he looks after himself is an example to all players.

“He has been unlucky with a couple of injuries which were outside of his control, but in the games he has played he has made plenty of positive contributions.

“For such a renowned finisher he is very unselfish in the way he goes about his work, and he has been brilliant in sharing his experience with our younger players".
