Newcastle Red Bulls have confirmed that head coach Alan Dickens has left the club with immediate effect, bringing forward a departure that had originally been expected at the end of the season.
Alan Dickens Leaves Newcastle Red Bulls Immediately
The club said an agreement had been reached to allow Dickens to pursue other opportunities, ending his spell in charge during a period of significant transition.
Dickens joined Newcastle in the summer of 2024 and later stepped into the head coach role after changes higher up in the rugby leadership structure.
Stephen Jones Appointed Until End Of Season
Current attack coach Stephen Jones has been appointed head coach until the end of the season. The former Wales fly-half will take charge of first-team duties for the closing stretch of the campaign.
Jones has already been part of the coaching setup, which gives Newcastle some continuity despite the change. His appointment is seen as a short-term solution while the club continues to assess its longer-term rugby structure.
Newcastle are languishing at the bottom of the PREM table after managing a solitary win from 10 matches.
