Springbok fullback Willie le Roux has been suspended for a week after pleading guilty for aerial hit on Irish number 15, Tiernan O'Halloran during the third Test at Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Le Roux accompanied by his lawyer Attie Heyns, pleaded guilty of breaching Law 10.4 (i) during the case hearing presided by Judicial Officer Terry Willis from Australia.

In the 11th minute of the game, the Irish fullback leapt in the air for a high ball where Le Roux made contact with O'Halloran, causing the Irishman to somersault and land heavily on his upper body and head.

Le Roux escaped a red card and was only sin-binned by match referee Glen Jackson and TMO Rowan Kitt.

The 26-year-old was cited by commissioner James Absaloms from Kenya, which was accepted by the Sharks player.

Willis found that the relevant entry point for the offence was at the lower end. He accepted the submission made by Heyns and ruled a one-week suspension was appropriate punishment for the offence which was worthy of a red card.

The suspension will result into le Roux missing the Sharks encounter against the Lions on Saturday, 2nd of July.
