Wasps coaches Scott Barrow and Pete Atkinson have been handed a one-week ban following their sent off during the recently concluded Gallagher Premiership game against Exeter Chiefs.

Backs transition coach Barrow backheeled the ball from the pitchside as an Exeter player was trying to regather the ball quickly after they were awarded a penalty and also blocked him from regathering the ball. As a result, he was sent-off by referee Wayne Barnes.

Head of Performance Atkinson also was also sent-off shortly for making comments on Barnes over the decision.

The duo faced a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday with the panel comprising of chair Mike Hamlin along with Gareth Graham and Mitch Read and were proved guilty of the charges.

"Barrow and Atkinson attended the hearing and admitted their misconduct," read a statement from the Rugby Football Union.

"They were each suspended for a period of one week from attending the game in any other capacity than as a spectator.

"They will also be required to deliver a presentation to the non-playing members of Wasps staff on the Premiership Regulations (Schedule 2) relating to the operation of technical areas for matches, and also how their own off-field conduct was contrary to the values of the game."

Wasps will be facing Saracens in the next round of the Gallagher Premiership at StoneX Stadium on 24th October.
