The win though was set up by hat-trick from Jake Gordon while Jack Maddocks, Alex Newsome and Tom Horton also touched down apiece for the Waratahs.

Will Harrison started the proceedings with an early penalty goal but Gordon crossed over in the 10th and 17th minutes and the fly-half kicked the extras on both the occasions to make the scoreline 17-0.

There was no respite for the visitors as Maddocks (24'), Gordon (27') and Newsome (35') scored further tries as they finished the opening half with a dominating 38-0 lead.

Waratahs extended their momentum into the second half with Tom Harton's try in the 52nd minute taking the scoreline to 45 points before Reds eventually responded with a 54th minute try from Jack Hardy.
