The eighth round United Rugby Championship clash between Ulster and Connacht has been postponed due to positive Covid-19 cases.

The latest round of testing reported 'a number of positive cases' within the Ulster squad and hence their fixture against Connacht which was originally scheduled to be played at Kingspan Stadium on Sunday will now be played on a different date.

"The game was due to take place on Sunday, 26th December in Belfast, however, a number of positive Covid-19 cases within the Ulster Rugby squad have been reported by the province," a URC statement read.

"The URC Medical Advisory Group has liaised with Ulster Rugby and the local health authorities and deemed that the fixture cannot go ahead as scheduled."

This will also be the third game in the round that will be affected by Covid-19 after the matches between Ospreys and Dragons along with another derby game between Munster and Leinster also postponed.
