Ulster have confirmed the signing of hooker Declan Moore on a short-term injury cover from rivals Munster.

Born in New Zealand, Moore started playing for Sydney University in 2015 and was part of the Melbourne Rebels squad for the 2020 Super Rugby season.

The 25-year-old is qualified to play for Ireland through his paternal grandfather and went on to make his debut for Munster in their opening 2021–22 Champions Cup fixture against Wasps. Moore was also selected for the Australian under-20s squad, though injury denied him any caps.

Meanwhile, the club academy player Ben Moxham has signed a development contract for the remainder of the season.

"Ben is a great example of an Ulster born and bred player who has progressed through our player pathway," said head coach Dan McFarland.

"His recent development under Gavin Hogg and his Academy coaching team, as well as the experience he has gained through both the school and club game, is paying dividends – and his new contract is testimony to his hard work and physicality on the field.

"I would also like to welcome Declan to the squad who, over the next while, will provide us with useful depth at hooker following a number of recent injuries in that position."
