Toulon have confirmed that they have acquired the services of Nation Rugby League star Ben Barba for the remainder of the Top 14 season.

Barba has over eight years experience in NRL after representing Canterbury Bulldogs, Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks. He was also part of the Grand Final winning Sharks team and was suspended indefinitely after he was tested positive for cocaine in his system.

Cronulla Sharks granted him a release from his contract to address the issue and he is due for a return in 2018 after undergoing a well-being programme and signing a 12-month deal with them. To fill in the void, the 27-year-old will join the French club Toulon, who had earlier announced the signing of Australian rugby league convert Semi Radradra as well from next season.

Toulon released a statement confirming the signing of the fullback.

"Barba should arrive in Toulon next week and be in contention for the next match of the Top 14 season."

Toulon are placed fifth in the table in the ongoing season of Top 14 after securing 43 points from 17 matches.
