Newcastle Red Bulls have confirmed the signing of loose-head prop Tom West from Northampton Saints on a one-year deal.
The 30-year-old will join the club this summer, giving Newcastle an experienced front-row addition ahead of the new season.
Tom West To Join Newcastle Red Bulls
West arrives after two seasons with Northampton Saints, where he made 34 appearances. His move adds proven PREM experience to the Newcastle pack as the club continues shaping its squad for the coming campaign.
The prop said he was excited to make the switch and described Newcastle as a club with a strong history. He also said conversations with incoming head coach Dan McFarland had added to his enthusiasm about the move.
“I’m excited to be joining Newcastle Red Bulls for the coming season," he told the club's official website.
“It’s a place that I’ve always loved coming to play, with a storied history.
“Having spoken to their incoming head coach Dan McFarland I’m excited by the prospect of working with him, and am looking forward to seeing what we as a squad can achieve next season.”
Tom West Career And Club Experience
A product of the Wasps academy, West went on to make 78 appearances for the club before later having spells with Leicester Tigers and Saracens.
The former England Under-20s forward joined Northampton in the summer of 2024 and has since added further top-level experience in the PREM.
Newcastle Add Experience In The Front Row
Sporting general manager Neil McIlroy said West’s arrival would strengthen the club’s front-row resources and described him as a proven performer at PREM level.
“Tom brings vast Gallagher PREM experience and will really bolster our front-row firepower when he arrives in the summer.
“He is a proven performer at this level and will be a valuable part of our pack as we look to move this club forward.”
