Wales will be without Taine Plumtree for the remainder of the Six Nations after the flanker was ruled out through injury, while Sam Costelow remains in contention for the final two fixtures.
Taine Plumtree Injury Six Nations Blow
Plumtree suffered a shoulder injury during Wales’ 26-23 defeat to Scotland in Cardiff, leaving the field in the opening quarter of the match. The Welsh Rugby Union confirmed that the blindside flanker has been released from Steve Tandy’s squad and will miss the remaining championship games.
His absence is a setback for Wales as they prepare to face Ireland in Dublin before concluding their campaign against Italy.
Sam Costelow Fitness Update
Fly-half Costelow also sustained an injury during the Scotland fixture, departing in the second half with an ankle issue. However, he will remain with the squad to continue rehabilitation and will be assessed ahead of the upcoming matches.
Costelow returned to Six Nations action after missing the autumn international window and delivered a strong performance against Scotland. Wales’ coaching staff are expected to give the 25-year-old every opportunity to prove his fitness before the Ireland clash.
Wales Prepare For Ireland And Italy Tests
Wales travel to Dublin for their next assignment before hosting Italy in the final round. Despite improved displays in recent matches, the side remain without a win in the ongoing campaign as they languish at bottom of the table.
