Stormers have announced the signing of second row Gary Porter ahead of their title defence in the 2022/23 season of the United Rugby Championship.
Porter returns to South Africa after playing the last season with Championship side Ealing Trailfinders.
The 26-year-old joined the Western Province Rugby Institute straight out of school before representing UCT in the Varsity Cup, while attaining a psychology degree.
“These are exciting times here and I want to contribute wherever I can within this system and grow as a player,” he said.
Meanwhile, Stormers head coach John Dobson believes Porter's addition will add more depth to their second row options.
“Gary and his high work-rate fit the type of game we would like to play and we are looking forward to seeing him grow in our environment as we take on a very tough season,” he said.
Stormers will begin their title defence in the upcoming season of the United Rugby Championship with a clash against Connacht on 24th September.
