Australia have secured the services of World Cup winning former All Blacks coach Steve Hansen on a short-term advisory role ahead of the showpiece event in France.

The 64-year-old is reported to be part of the Wallabies camp for one week and is not expected to have any monetary compensation from Rugby Australia.

Best known for leading the All Blacks to Australia's victory in the 2015 World Cup final, Hansen has volunteered to share his invaluable insight with the Wallabies after accepting an invitation from coach Eddie Jones.

Jones and Hansen have engaged in a longstanding rivalry from opposite sides of the coaches' arena, a battle that has been particularly notable during significant moments like the 2019 World Cup held in Japan.

During Jones' tenure as head coach, the England team defeated Hansen's All Blacks with a score of 19-7 in the semi-finals of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. However, England subsequently suffered a loss to South Africa in the final, with a final score of 32-12.

Australia are yet to win a game since Jones took over as the head coach from Dave Rennie having played four matches. The Wallabies coach is set to name the matchday squad for the warm-up game against France on Friday.
