World Rugby has announced the Men’s 15s Dream Team of the Year for 2025, with South Africa dominating the lineup after another strong international season.
Six South Africans have been included, reflecting their consistency through 2025, where they won back-to-back Rugby Championship titles and maintained the No.1 spot in the World Rugby rankings.
Malcolm Marx, recently crowned World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year, headlines the group.
An all-Springbok front row of Ox Nché, Marx, and Thomas du Toit has been selected, while Pieter-Steph du Toit earns a back-row spot following another standout season.
Flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu and winger Cheslin Kolbe complete the South African contingent. All six players have featured prominently in a campaign where the Springboks have won 11 of their 13 Tests so far.
New Zealand contribute two players: fullback Will Jordan and scrumhalf Cam Roigard. Australia also feature with centre Len Ikitau and No.8 Harry Wilson, while England’s Maro Itoje and Tom Curry are included in the second row and openside respectively.
Scotland’s Huw Jones, France’s Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Ireland’s Tadhg Beirne round out the XV.
SA Rugby president Mark Alexander praised the Springbok selections, saying the recognition reflects both individual excellence and team cohesion. He noted Marx’s Player of the Year achievement and highlighted the additional nominations for Pieter-Steph du Toit, Ox Nché and Ethan Hooker during the awards cycle.
“I’d like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Malcolm, Pieter-Steph, Ox, Thomas, Sacha and Cheslin on behalf of SA Rugby and the entire country for being named in the Dream Team,” said SA Rugby President Mark Alexander.
“They have all played exceptionally well this season and deserve this honour. Being named in this team is a massive achievement, especially since it consists of the best players throughout the world. To see six Springboks included is a testament to the quality of players we have in South Africa.
“Making this achievement even more remarkable, Malcolm became the second South African player in a row to win the World Rugby Men’s 15s Player of the Year award, after being nominated alongside Pieter-Steph and Ox.
"In addition, Ethan Hooker was nominated for the World Rugby Breakthrough Men’s 15s Player of the Year award. As SA Rugby, we could not be prouder of them and the entire Springbok team".
