Harlequins have confirmed the signing of veteran scrum-half Scott Steele with immediate effect.

Steele will be part of Harlequins squad for the remainder of the 2019/20 season and will also remain with them for the 2020/21 season.

The 26-year-old started his professional rugby career with Leicester Tigers in 2011 and moved to London Irish ahead of the 2014/15 season. During his time with the Exiles, Steele played 127 games for them scoring 115 points. Overall, Steele has played 59 Premiership games with 58 out of it coming for London Irish.

“I’m really excited about a new challenge after a six-year period with London Irish," he told the official website of the club.

“I’m looking forward to working with and learning off a great variety of experienced heads and impressive young talent at the Club.

“The coaching setup at Quins is full of experience and I think there’s huge potential for me to further develop my game here.

“I’ve spent some time at training this week and the setup seems extremely professional, it allows the players to just come in work hard each day. I’m looking forward to getting involved and getting back to matchday action.”

Harlequins are at seventh place in the Gallagher Premiership table for the 2019/20 season and will lock horns with Sale Sharks at Twickenham Stoop when the completion resumes on 14th August.
