France international Scott Spedding has agreed to join Top 14 club Castres from rivals Clermont Auvergne on a one-year contract.

The decision to sign Spedding from Castres comes after Geoffrey Palis is sidelined with a long-term injury.

The 32-year-old made his professional rugby debut with Sharks in 2006 and his French association began with Brive in 2008. Spedding switched to Bayonne four years later and signed with Clermont in 2015. He now will join the Stade Pierre-Fabre based outfit ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Spedding also made 23 Test appearances for France between 2014 and 2017 and also represented them in the 2015 World Cup.
