Edinburgh have confirmed the signing of former Scotland Under 20 international David Cherry on a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old will join Edinburgh from French Federale 2 side Stade Nicois, who have a partnership agreement with Scottish Rugby.

Cherry featured in club rugby for Currie and switched to London Scottish for three seasons before his move to France.

"I grew up watching and aspiring to play for the club, so I'm delighted to be signing for a team that I've always supported," he said.

"The club is clearly moving in a positive direction, so I'm really pleased to have committed my future to a team with such ambitious aspirations."

Meanwhile, Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill is delighted with the signing of Cherry.

“David is a combative and physical player, who’s had experience playing in both the English Championship and in France,” Cockerill said.

“We’re looking forward to him adding competition to the hooker position.”

Edinburgh are currently at the third position in the Conference B table of Pro 14 with 11 wins from 16 games.
