Leicester Tigers have confirmed the signing of Scotland international Rory Hughes on loan for the remainder of the ongoing season.

Hughes started his professional rugby debut with Glasgow Warriors in 2013 and has represented Scotland Under 17, Under 18, Under 20 and Sevens team in the past. He enjoyed a loan stint with London Scottish in the 2015/16 season and now will provide cover at Welford Road.

"It's a massive club, a great opportunity and too good not to take it,' he told the official website of the club.

"I want to improve myself and help the club out as much as I can ... but I am not just here to hold a tackle bag, I want to play rugby."

The 26-year-old made his debut for Scotland in 2015 and has gone on to play four times for the Dark Blues with his last appearance coming in June 2017.

“Rory is a quality outside-back, who adds a different dimension to our side and vital depth as go into the second half of the season." said Leicester Tigers head coach Geordan Murphy.

“He is an international, with experience in the PRO14 and we’re excited to see what he can bring to our group.”

Leicester Tigers are positioned 11th in the Gallagher Premiership table with a solitary win from seven games and will host Bristol Bears at Welford Road next on Saturday.
