Scarlets Rugby have confirmed the return of experienced lock forward Jake Ball ahead of the 2025–26 season, marking a highly anticipated comeback for the Welsh international who previously spent nearly a decade with the club.

Ball, who left in 2021 to prioritize family commitments, has since spent four seasons in Japan with the Green Rockets Tokatsu.

The 32-year-old brings a wealth of experience back to Llanelli, having made 133 appearances for Scarlets between 2012 and 2021.

During that time, he was a pivotal figure in the side that clinched the 2016–17 Pro12 title and made a deep run to the European Champions Cup semi-finals. Known for his physicality, commitment, and lineout authority, Ball was a consistent presence in the engine room and a fan favorite during his initial stint.

While playing in Japan, Ball added another 32 matches to his club career, continuing to refine his game in the fast-paced Japanese league.

His return to Welsh domestic rugby is expected to add much-needed depth and leadership to Scarlets’ forward pack, especially in the lock position.

Ball’s international career with Wales saw him earn 50 caps between 2014 and 2021. He featured prominently in the team that secured a Grand Slam in the 2019 Six Nations and also represented his country in the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
