Saracens ran a seven-try riot as they went on to trounce their Aviva Premiership rivals Northampton Saints 62-14 in their European Champions face-off at Allianz Park.

The bonus point win has taken Saracens to 18 points on the table but despite the result, they will need to depend on other results to keep their play-off hope alive.

Scrum-half Cobus Reinach opened Northampton Saints' account with a fifth-minute try that was improved by Harry Mallinder. Man of the Match Mako Vunipola crossed over in the 14th minute with Owen Farrell kicking a penalty and a conversion on either side to take Saracens to a three point lead.

The momentum once again was grabbed by the visitors with a try from Nafi Tuitavake in the 16th minute but Alex Goode celebrated his 250th appearance for the club with a touchdown as Saracens held on to a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Marcelo Bosch (28'), Richard Wigglesworth (34') and Vincent Koch (40') and they were greatly aided by a sin-bin to Jamie Gibson at the stroke of half-time and Saracens enjoyed a 36-14 lead heading into the break.

Sean Maitland (53') and Sione Vailanu (62') scored second half tries for Saracens while Farrell also had a good outing with a couple of conversions and four penalties to his name as Saracens completed a 48-point victory.
