Wasps 28-50 Saracens, Coventry

Saracens ran a six try riot as they completed a 28-50 bonus-point victory over Wasps in the opening round of the Premiership Rugby Cup in Coventry on Saturday.

It took Saracens just two minutes to get off the block with Manu Vunipola diving over the line and Tom Whiteley kicked the conversion to make it 0-7.

The visitors stretched their lead to 12 points with their second try coming from Rotimi Segun in the 12th minute before Wasps got their first points on the board with a touchdown from Kieran Brookes at the start of the second quarter.

The remainder of the first half saw Elliot Obatoyinbo and Alex Rieder exchange tries but a double penalty kick from Whiteley meant the teams went into the break with a 14-25 scoreline.

Wasps were the first to get the points in the second half with a 46th minute try from Thibaud Flament that was improved by Jacob Umaga but Whiteley's two more penalties saw Saracens maintain a 21-31 lead.

There was no respite for Wasps in the final 15 minutes as tries from Segun (65'), Charlie Watson (71') and Nick Tompkins (78') overcame a consolation try from Callum Sirker (74') to complete a 28-50 win for Saracens.
