Sale Sharks have announced the departure of defence Coach Jamie Langley, who leaves the club by mutual consent to pursue a new professional opportunity.
Langley, a former rugby league player, played a pivotal role during his time at the club, contributing to key milestones over the past three years.
He initially joined Sale Sharks as Peak Performance Coach ahead of the 2021/22 season. His efforts behind the scenes were instrumental in helping the team reach the Premiership final in the following campaign.
In early 2023, Langley stepped up as Defence Coach following the departure of Mike Forshaw, who joined Warren Gatland’s coaching staff with the Wales national team. Langley’s tenure saw him play a critical role in shaping Sale’s defensive strategies during a successful period for the club.
Sale Sharks Director of Rugby, Alex Sanderson, praised Langley’s contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors.
“Jamie is a hugely popular figure at the club and has been an invaluable part of our coaching team for more than three years now," Sanderson said. "He’s played a huge role in the success we’ve had in the last three seasons, and I’ve got no doubt he’ll go on to achieve great things in whatever he chooses to do next."
The club confirmed that a replacement for Langley will be announced in the coming days. Langley’s departure marks a significant transition for Sale Sharks as they look to build on their recent successes and maintain strong defensive performances in the future.
