Gloucester Rugby have announced that four players including Ruan Ackermann and Val Rapava-Ruskin have signed new deals with the club.

Ackermann has been part of the Cherry and Whites ahead of the 2017/18 season after being part of Golden Lions previously. He also had represented Barbarians and South Africa A sides in the past.

Loosehead prop Rapava-Ruskin, a former Georgia Under 19 international joined Gloucester in 2017 from Worcester Warriors and has made 70 appearances for the Cherry and Whites.

Apart from the duo Matías Alemanno, who joined the club back in the summer of 2020 and Georgia international Giorgi Kveseladze, who headed to Kingsholm in 2021 also have penned new multi-year deals with the club.

“These four lads are exactly what we’re about here at Gloucester Rugby. They all put their bodies on the line every time they put on the shirt so I’m pleased to have them all around for the future," said Skivington.

“It’s an exciting time for the club and it’s great to see that players of their quality and ability have brought into what we’re doing here and that they want to stay.”

COO Alex Brown is delighted with the news of all four players extending their stay at the club.

“We’re so pleased to be able to announce these re-signings as we feel that these are the sort of players that are really important to our squad and team.

“We are in a good place as a squad and continue to build a team who embody the values that George and the coaches demand. As we develop, this is going to be key to our longer term success."

Gloucester are positioned sixth in the Gallagher Premiership table after managing three wins from seven games.
