La Rochelle head coach Ronan O'Gara has re-committed his future with the Top 14 club after signing a five-year contract extension until 2027.

The news also effectively rules him out of the England job after the board decided to sack Eddie Jones.

The former Munster and Ireland fly-half had a productive outing with the French side after joining them as head coach in 2019 and since then helped them to Champions Cup triumph last season apart from reaching the final of the Top 14.

He also served Racing 92 as defence coach between 2013 and 2017 apart from being Crusaders assistant coach for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

"My family and I feel very good here. Work-life balance is very important to me," O'Gara said.

"I am absolutely delighted. I love my group. Gradually, we are changing status and I am convinced that this is only the beginning.

"It's a great responsibility but also a lot of pride to continue here."

La Rochelle currently are at fourth position in the Top 14 table with seven wins from 12 matches.
